National legislation

Responsibility of chemicals management is shared amongst different ministries in Botswana.The following are Acts that cover chemicals management.Copies of these Acts are available for purchase at the Government Printers:

Factories Act (1973)

This law provides for the management of chemicals hazards at the workplace

Agro chemicals Act (1999)

This provides for the control of import, sale, distribution and disposal of Agrochemicals

Waste Management (1999)

This Act provides for management and control of Hazardous waste

Atmospheric Pollution Act (1971)

This Act provides for prevention of pollution of atmosphere by industrial processes.
