Ozone Day theme 2008Armenia
The Ministry of Nature Protection held the following activities to celebrate the Ozone Day:
A Painting Competition among the middle schools of Yerevan (1-14 Sept) with further submission of the best pictures to the 18th International Painting Competition organized by UNEP. http://www.unep.org/tunza/children/inner.asp?ct=competitions&comp=int_comp&int_comp=18th
A special event was organized in the Middle School N176 of Yerevan jointly with the "Molorak" Junior Team. (This Junior Team has a special story - it was organized in the school after an awareness seminar in which some children showed concern over the ecological problems and decided to get united and organize a team). The event included staging of children's plays "Planet's Dream", presentation of the Ozzy Ozone Game reproduced in Armenian in 3 meters x 3 meters format to make it playable on the ground and the distribution of the Education Pack (reproduced in Armenian) to the representatives of the schools (16 schools) of the same community that are going to join the event. One of TV channels, "Kentron" TV was invited to film the event.
Dedicate the coming issue of "Bnapahpani oragir" Environmental TV program to the International Ozone Day.
An awareness Seminar for higher-education students was conducted jointly with the Aarhus Center on 17 Sept. It was dedicated to ecological problems like climate change and ozone depletion. Kyrgyzstan
Ozone center of Kyrgyzstan organized the following activities dedicated to the 16th of September – International Day of ozone layer protection:
On 15th of September 2008 the public association “Bigl” with initiative of Ozone Center organized ecological action “Together we will save the world from ecological disaster” in honor of International day of Ozone layer protection with participation of senior pupils of schools #70, 13 and 8 of Bishkek city at the park named after Togolok Moldo. During the action the following materials were distributed: coloring book “Let’s play safe on the sun”, comics “Ozzy Ozone – defender of our planet: Ozzy goes polar”, “Ozzy goes farming”.
On 16th of September ecological movement of Kyrgyzstan “Tabiyat” by the active instrumentality of Ozone center and State agency on environmental protection and forestry conducted the second circle of an annual ecological action “Ozone Zone-2008” within the framework of the project “Public awareness raising on problems of ozone layer destruction” at ecologic-economic lycee #65. During the action the following materials were distributed: coloring book “Let’s play safe on the sun”, comics “Ozzy Ozone – defender of our planet: Ozzy goes polar”, “Ozzy goes farming”. At this school a seminar for teachers of exact sciences were organized, where the following teaching methodical aids were distributed: “Protection from harmful solar radiation”, “Education pack: Ozone action”, “Protect yourself from the Sun”. The representatives of mass media were invited to the action.
-The first circle of an annual ecological action “Ozone Zone-2008” within the framework of the project “Public awareness raising on problems of ozone layer destruction” started on 9th of August at children’s health resort “Mayak” in village Toru-Aigyr, Issyk-Kul oblast, first of all for the purpose of informing teachers and children on problems of ozone layer protection. During the action the following materials were distributed: coloring book “Let’s play safe on the sun”, comics “Ozzy Ozone – defender of our planet: Ozzy goes polar”, “Ozzy goes farming”. The ecological action was covered at Internet publications.
- On 17th of September within the framework of the project “Public awareness raising on problems of ozone layer destruction” the third circle of an annual ecological action “Ozone Zone-2008” were conducted at school named after Nekrasov in Karakol town, Issyk-Kul oblast. During the action the following materials were distributed: coloring book “Let’s play safe on the sun”, comics “Ozzy Ozone – defender of our planet: Ozzy goes polar”, “Ozzy goes farming”. At this school a seminar for teachers of exact sciences were organized, where the following teaching methodical aids were distributed: “Protection from harmful solar radiation”, “Education pack: Ozone action”, “Protect yourself from the Sun”. The ecological action was broadcasted on local TV channels.
On 16th of September an ecological action “Save the ozone layer of the planet”, dedicated to 16th September – International day of Ozone layer protection was organized at Osh technological university in Osh town for students of Osh technological university. After the ecological action organized press-conference with the participation of pro-rector of the university on science works Toktoraliev B.A. and national consultant of Ozone center in southern region Bayaliev A.B. with the representatives of mass media.
A photo-module “16-th September – is an International day of ozone layer protection” with the text “Global collaboration is general success”” was published on September’s issue of the newspaper “Vitrina” (edition is 20 000 copies).
Banners dedicated to the 16th of September – International day of Ozone layer protection are prepared, were posted up in the main streets of our city Bishkek.
Colouring book for children “Let’s play safe on the Sun” was published. Informational bulletin “Protection from adverse solar radiation” was republished.
Journalism department of Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University with initiative of Ozone centre published special issue of students’ newspaper “Ozone bulletin”, covering information about Ozone centre’s activities from the first days, in particular, projects, activities that are being implemented on public awareness raising on problems of ozone layer destruction, latest news and so on.
United Nations Secretary General’s official address in honour of 16-September- International day of ozone layer protection was distributed at these ecological actions, seminars, mass media, NGOs, etc.
Ecological movement of Kyrgyzstan “Kaiberen” prepared teaching-methodological aid “Ozone layer of the Earth” for teachers of universities, specialists studying the problems of ecology, biology, as well as for wide audience of readers.
Moldova
The following activities were undertaken to celebrate Ozone Day on 16 Sept:
Press conferences with participation of National Ozone Unit (NOU), Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources, End-users, main importers and distributors of refrigeration equipment and mass-media representatives;
Carrying out an Ecological hour - 16 September - International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer in all primary and high schools of the republic;
Broadcasting special radio transmission (round table discussion) in the format "ECO-TERRA", under the topic: "Progress of the Republic of Moldova in achievements of the Montreal Protocol obligations";
Broadcasting through national TV the UNEP TVE video animated cartoons (translated into Romanian language);
