UNEP OzonAction produced the ECA brochure “Solidarity & Partnerships” on the achievements of the ECA network with regional highlights focusing on the status of compliance and challenges for the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol during MOP 19 in Montreal, Canada. The brochure is in English and Russian.
Croatia received financial assistance to produce the Croatian language version of UNEP’s education pack.
Kyrgyzstan received financial assistance to produce a awareness raising video in Russian language (with English sub-titles) based on Kyrgyzstan’s experience in the phase-out of ODS.
Turkmenistan received financial assistance to adapt Kyrgyzstan’s handbook for teachers for use in Turkmenistan.
Kyrgyzstan received financial assistance to produce a Ozone Play of 20 minutes for the celebrations of the 20th anniversary of the Montreal Protocol. The Play has been recorded on CD-ROM with English sub-titles.
Bosnia & Herzegovina received financial assistance to produce a brochure with 20 questions and answers related to the Montreal Protocol in Bosnian and English to be shared with interested network countries. ECA regional awareness raising 2006Armenia received financial assistance to prepare a brochure for children exhibition also using materials from other network countries and with text in Armenian, Russian and possibly English.
Georgia received financial assistance to produce waste bins from disposable cylinders (approximately 100-150) to be exposed in public parks and labeled with ozone related advertising - technical instructions on how to produce such waste bins shall be shared with the network countries and interested parties.
Macedonia FYR received financial assistance to prepare a performance of Ozone Play (prepared by OzonAction for Ozone Day 2006) in local language – the performance shall be recorded on video/CD with subtitles in English, Russian, Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian.
Modova requested assistance to prepare a guidebook for teachers from primary schools in local language to be coordinated with Kyrgyzstan's text book for teachers from secondary schools and with UNEP's education kit for primary schools – the guidebook shall possibly be made available in Russian and English language versions. ECA regional awareness raising 2005Albania received financial assistance to produce CD-ROMs (400 copies) and posters (50 copies) for distribution to technical schools and other educational institutions. The content of the training materials will include the problem of the ozone layer depletion, basic concepts on refrigeration, good practices, recovery and recycling, new alternatives on the refrigeration, theory of mobile air condition, system types, components, retrofitting, equipments and servicing. The materials will be used for creation of a new school programme in the refrigeration and mobile air conditioning sector.
Armenia received financial assistance to produce 5000 flyers with information on ozone layer protection and problems related to ozone depletion for school children. The flyers will be used for geography courses at national schools. The flyers will contain the following information: What is ozone? What is the ozone layer? Why is the ozone layer so important? What are the effects of ozone layer depletion on human health and the environment? What is the ozone hole? How is ozone destroyed? What are ozone depleting substances? The flyers will be double-sided in A4 format, in color and distributed to national schools and relevant public education authorities in Armenia.
Kyrgyzstan received financial assistance to produce videos, showing the audience that increased UV-radiation is a result of ozone layer depletion and how to protect from over-exposure to the sun. The videos will contain special slogans that will be easy to remember. For the production of videos, the country will organize a competition for the scenario and design among local advertising agencies and interested individuals. The best scenario will be selected for production. The competition will also serve to attract additional attention to the ozone layer issues. The videos will be prepared in a wide range of formats, suitable for TV broadcasting, VHS and CD. The criteria for development of videos are as follows: two official languages – Kyrgyz and Russian, appropriate formats, covering issues related to ozone layer protection and the danger of UV-radiation, easy to remember slogans, based on national cultural traditions. It is expected to broadcast the videos on National TV and Radio Corporation that covers almost 98% of the population in order to increase awareness of ozone layer protection and the danger of UV-radiation. The videos will be distributed to various stakeholders in the Kyrgyz Republic, including local TV companies, schools, NGOs, companies, administrative bodies, etc.
Romania received financial assistance to produce a video-clip (500 CDs) in Romanian language to raise awareness of service technicians and the public at large concerning proper disposal of end-of-life refrigeration equipment and the prevention of ODS emissions during dismantling operations. The video clip will contain information and images of existing ODS recycling centers and will promote proper disposal of old equipment. The audio format will focus on ODS emissions prevention and the legal requirements of proper recovery/recycling of ODS. The expected impact will be improved recovery & recycling rates as a result of better-informed technicians. The video-clip will also be distributed through Internet.
Serbia and Montenegro received financial assistance to develop a National Programme for Protection from Sun Radiation. The Programme will be developed in cooperation with the Hydrometeorological Institute and the Public Health Institute and produced as a brochure with 50-60 pages in Serbian language. The Programme may serve a as model for UV radiation protection programmes and campaigns in other countries of the South-East Europe.
Turkmenistan received financial assistance to produce a 15 minute educational television film on problems of the ozone layer protection. The film is designed for demonstration in senior classes of schools and for college students. The content of the film will include basic positions of the Vienna Convention on Protection of the Ozone Layer and the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer, activities conducted world-wide and in particularly in Turkmenistan on protection of the ozone layer, role of the State structures in compliance with the obligations under the ozone treaties. The film will be developed in cooperation with the Ministry of Nature Protection, the Ministry of Education and Film studio "Turkmenkinofilm". The film will be released on CD-ROMs, PAL format and 100 CDs will be produced for distribution to schools and other educational institutions. The film will be recommended to the Ministry of Education for demonstration to 14-16 year old children. The broadcasting of the film is also planned on the central republican TV. ECA regional awareness raising 2004Bosnia and Herzegovina received financial assistance to produce information materials and organise awareness raising activities for school children in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The objective of this project is to increase the public awareness of the ozone layer protection in the country and beyond through the development and distribution of new information and educational materials. The activitiy includes lectures on the importance of public action to protect the ozone layer in 10 selected elementary schools (classes 3-6) in Bosnia and Herzegovina, children’s competition in writing and painting “How to Save Our Ozone Layer?”, brochure with 20 best children’s articles in Bosnian and English, calendar containing 12 best children’s paintings, “Children Ozone Summit” in the National Park of Nature “Sutjeska”, Foèa or in the “Hutovo Blato”, Mostar. The country will distribute the information materials produced under the project to various stakeholders in Bosnia and Herzegovina and provide electronic publishing files and copies to countries of the Regional Ozone Network for Europe and Central Asia |
