HCFC Phase-out Management Plan (HPMP) Policy Dialogue Workshop 29th April, 2010 Belize City
The Belize National
Ozone Unit in the Department of the Environment, Ministry of Natural Resources
and the Environment, conducted its HPMP Policy Dialogue Workshop on Thursday 29th
April, 2010, at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City. The policy
workshop was one of the activities implemented as part of the HPMP preparation.
UNEP/ROLAC
contracted three international consultants to develop Belize’s HPMP for
submission to the Executive Committee of the Multilateral Funds for the
implementation of the Montreal Protocol. Mr. Bishu Tulsie, one of the
international consultants from St. Lucia, facilitated the workshop. The other
international consultants are Mr. Daniel Colbourne of the UK and Ms. Marta
Rincon of Mexico.
Several stakeholders
and Government Departments participated at the one-day HPMP Policy Dialogue
Workshop including technicians of the Association of Refrigeration and Air
Conditioning Technicians (ARACT) Belize, refrigerant & equipment importers,
HPMP local consultants, Department of the Environment, National Forensic
Science Service, Bureau of Standards, Customs Department, and the Policy Unit
of the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Environment.
The national HPMP survey was completed in April, 2010. It is expected that the first draft HPMP will be completed by 30th
June, 2010. Stakeholder consultations will be held in July and final draft HPMP
document is expected to complete by 1st August, 2010. The Belize NOU, in collaboration with UNEP,
will officially submit the final document to the Fund Secretariat by 16th
August, 2010.
